Car keys: spare keys and programming
A spare key to be on the safe side, a new key that has to be programmed to your car, or a remote the doors no longer respond to: we can help with all three. Send us your license plate and a short description in advance, and we will let you know what your car needs.
Spare car keys
Down to your last key, or has one gone missing? For many cars we can make an extra key, so you are not left without a spare. On most modern cars a key is more than the metal blade: it holds a chip your car has to recognize, and often a remote as well. That is why programming the new key to your car is usually part of the job.
Key and transponder programming
Most car keys contain a transponder: a chip that lets your car recognize the key before it allows the engine to start. A new key only works once that chip has been programmed to your car, and we take care of that for you. If your car no longer recognizes an existing key, we check whether reprogramming solves the problem. If a key has gone missing, on many cars it can be deleted from the memory, so it no longer starts the car.
Pairing the central locking remote
The buttons on your key operate the central locking, but a new or replacement remote only works once it has been paired with your car. We pair remotes with the central locking, for example after a spare key has been made. If the doors stop responding to the buttons while the key still starts the car, re-pairing can help as well: on some cars the link is lost after the battery in the key is replaced.
